All for 2 Meta 2 Invulnerability Fields

It's been a long day at work... so I am too tired to get onto EVE.  But it also allows me to do a little catching up so everyone is all on the same page.

Two days ago on the day right before I began this blog, I was on Neka Petsamet and was testing how good Invulnerability Fields and Damage Controls were... as all this time I've never used them.  I wanted to see how good I can make a Orca, or one of her battleships with just using those, as up till now, I've only used sheild extenders and armor plates.  Or the capaciter sucking repair modules.  Those are alright... but now it is so satisfying to see all my resistance numbers in the 60-70% range.

After about two hours into module playing, which had involved me flying my toys outside and turning everything on, checking the numbers on the fitting window, and then turning on my repair modules on top of those to see how fast my capaciter drained, I had noticed my Invulnerability Fields I had bought were only meta level 1 modules.  I went to compare those to the meta level 2 version of it and yes... I was going to buy about 2 of those guys as those were better.  And I did not have to worry about learning all the way to tech 2 yet and spending more isk.

Now, the only issue about buying things is that Neka is tempararily based out of the system of Juddi which is right on the edge of highsec and leads into lowsec, and then eventually into the region of Curse.  So alot of the market is out of .04 to .02 systems.  I bought those 3 meta level 2 field modules and they ended up being in Futzchag, a .02 system.  At the same time, my mood lowered as it won't be as simple.  But at the same time I was happy to have a reason to do some more bookmark making training.

Now, Neka is currently the acting CEO of my own little corporation called Clone Red Creations [CCXX].  Right now, Kentt is out learning the ways of nullsec in the Open University of Celestial Hardship [OUCH] for future plans.  Being that right now, it is only me, myself, and I in CCXX it is difficult to do much attacking and killing.  But it is ok!  Because it was primarily made as a research corporation and allow me to play around with different module fittings for combat, support, ect roles.

So then, I debated what to fly to Futzchag... and turned to one of Neka's Slashers.  A little guy fitted with a 10AB and with a Russian name that I could never remember but started with "K".  It had 140 room in its cargohold, so that was more then enough for my self delivery I was about to preform.

Before venturing out, I went and refered myself to EVE's map and I checked all the little statistics that could change the outcome of my 7 jump journey with only 5 of those systems I believe were in lowsec.  It was almost dead, with only one of those systems with 19 pilots in it... with the majority of them actively sitting in stations.  No cynos, no large amount of ships/pods blown up the last hour, it was just about nothing happening.  After checking the map, I then went and created folders in my locations that were named after the systems I will be passing through.  With that done, I set off with a insured Slasher.

The last highsec system had one of the warp gates wayyy out there, nowhere near a celestial object.  I went ahead and made a bookmark between the gate I had came from and a random moon I think it was.  Then I decided to hit my 10AB and allign to the gate to lowsec that was about 30 AU away.  Scanners only go for about 14.2 AU I believe.  Now, before I go and jump to lowsec, I wanted to know if there was anyone near the gate.  If there was, there could have been the possibility that they were a scout for a gatecamp on the other end.  After some fruitless Dscan results I was not able to get anything.  So heck... let me cross my fingers and toes and warp at 100km.  Maybe I could drop a bookmark down right as I start to slow down.  Then next time I pass through, I will have somewhere I can warp to and be both far and close enough to use my directional scanner.  Then a message popped up.  Not surprising when I have a 10AB on a frigate.

You do not have enough capacitor stored to fully complete your jump. (or something like that....)

Then something clicked... as my Slasher slowed down out of warp... faaarrrr away from the gate I intended to get 100km away from, I madly clicked in a direction to get my ship out of allignment.  Then I realligned and looked to how far I was.  I was 9 AU away!  Yes!  Manual jump breaking!  So I scanned... and nothing was there at the gate.  I dropped my bookmark as somewhere to warp in the future, and then warped to the gate to jump.

After I got the hang of my little trick of cap draining my Slasher to the point where it could not continue long jumping and stop out of warp, the majority of my journey to Futzchag was uneventfull.  Maybe it was too easy?  I don't know... but I went through the motions of dropping bookmarks and coming in at gates from noalligned points fast enough where I did not want to find out why it was easy.  Maybe they were all asleep as it was 7PM Pacific Standard Time, that could be it.

So I got to Futzchag.  To my surprise there was a Catalyst on the other side waiting to ambush any who came through.  As soon as I began to warp to a random moon, it started to target me and was about 85-90% targeted before I warped.  But it was too soon to cheer as I had to get to the station, get my items, and get out.  There was 6 pilots in system, one being my attacking Catalyst pilot who was possibly on the hunt for a little Slasher.

So I started to bookmark around my targeted station.  There was a planet near it, so I decided to warp to that at 100km away from a bookmark leading from nowhere.  The station was 5000km out, but a Ishkur was 63km away!  I quickly dropped a bookmark and warped back to the bookmark I came from.  I warped to that bookmark at 100km out and then did this about 4 more times while the Ishkur tried to guess what I was doing.  My fourth time and I decide I was far enough (he was arond 200km away) so I activated my 10AB and pointed my ship downwards while still maintaining a 45 degree angle.

At this point the Catalyst warped in.  Most likely a friend of the Ishkur pilot.  The Ishkur was dropping away fast... so I figured it had only a 1AB fit, most likely a tackler.  But the Catalyst was gaining, giving me the idea it might have had a microwarp drive to it.  The Ishkur warped away to find a easier prey maybe, but the Catalyst was wanting to race and it was still 160km away and steadily gaining.  My Slasher at this point was hitting alittle over 2000 in speed with only 10 or so percent til it would reach its top speed.  It reached its top speed when the Catalyst was 130km away and started to show results.  The 130 turned to 131... then slowly to 132... and it slowly climbed back up.  I wooped with joy and when the Catalyst figured this out... he warped away to find slower prey.  Even though not a shot was fired, I felt I won.

Now this whole time I had angled my Slasher slightly towards the station that was about 4000km out now after our little race.  I decided to continue it.  I also wanted to create a intawarp bookmark.  But for that to happen, I had to be about at the front of where ships pop out of the station.  So I decided to eyeball the vague detail of the station and compare it to the picture of it from the examiner window.  I was able to spin it around and I found what side of the station I was on... then after more eyeballing and zooming in with the camera from my spot 3-4000km out, I figured out where the hanger ships would leave from.  So I manually flew to that side.  It took about 30-45 minutes.

The whole time I was watching my Dcanner.  At one point, one of the Christmas special Vherokior Probe frigates were flying out there.  And then 2 Sisters of EVE scanner probes were somewhere out there.  I wanted to get to my spot where I could drop my instawarp bookmark so I continued to fly at full speed dispite this.  After 5 minutes the scanner probes were gone, along with that frigate.  I guess that was good news.  But even more good news was those probes never got close to where my possition was.

Soon I got to about 1000km out where I wanted and this was where the fun began.  How close could I get to directly on line with the station undock?  I had my tactical overview on so I could see if I was flying too high or too low.  I was manually flying while also activly using the camera zoom feature to eyeball the exit, if I was alligned or not.  Then I was there, I felt it was good enough.  I dropped the bookmark and alligned to the station.  After a quick Dscan, nothing was outside the station.  My two pilots had left the system long ago, and there was 4 pilots all together in the system.  I warped.

The station had one pilot in it.  But I was not taking any chances.  I openned up my inventory, dropped my Invulnerability Fields inside the Slasher, and undocked.  Then I warped to my instawarp bookmark.  It was almost on the spot... 5 more degrees and it might have looked like I would not have to have my ship adjust for warp at all.  The job was halfway done.

After all that, the trip home to Juddi was nothing.  Not one ship seem in my flight until I hit highsec.  Choosing the simple Slasher was a good choice instead of a cargoship or my normal 1AB Slasher.  After reviewing my logs, it seems the Ishkur pilot had thought I was a scout for something big lol.

Well I feal happy I was mistaken for a scout who may have know what he was doing.  Because I was frantically bookmarking and staying mobile.  It was fun.
